TYPES OF CAR SERVICE
WHAT DO THEY INCLUDE?

Why service your vehicle?

  • More reliable - regular checks to key components and the replacement of worn parts will detect and eliminate any faults that are likely to occur & identifies small issues before they become huge and costly.
  • Preventing your car from breaking down in rush hour traffic
  • Ensuring the summer family holiday is without car problems
  • From failing the yearly MOT.
  • Servicing ensures that your car will run more efficiently by having a smoother engine - changing your engine oil and oil filter every year will lubricate moving parts more effectively and help to increase fuel efficiency.
  • Improved braking - brake pads, discs and calipers are inspected during an annual service to ensure they're performing at their optimum level saving lives.
  • Higher resale value - cars with a full service history are more attractive to potential buyers and tend to hold their value better

Prevention is  always better than cure and it's never truer than when it comes to looking after your car.

Millions of breakdowns happen every year because of very common faults. Faults that are usually caused by a poor service and maintenance.

Do I have to have my new car serviced by the franchised dealer?

Following a change in EU Regulations effective in October 2003, consumers are no longer obliged to have their new cars serviced by the franchised dealer in order to maintain the validity of the manufacturer's warranty. The car must of course be serviced in accordance with the manufacturers' recommended schedule using parts that reach the requirements laid down by the manufacturers.

CT Motoring Services  provide different servicing options

To suit both your situation and your wallet CTM provide Vehicle Safety Checks, Interim Services and Main Services, to prepare for the rigours of the winter weather or to get ready for your summer holiday journeys.

We recommend a full or part service twice a year this is the best and most cost effective way to keep car trouble and garage bills at bay.

The main culprits that are checked in your service:

Battery : Inspected to ensure it is  fully charged & topped up. Terminals checked to ensure  clean & protected from corrosion, clamps & connections checked to ensure they are secure.

Brake shoes, pads and discs : Inspected & replaced if worn.

Aternator :  is your engines' own electrical generator, transforming mechanical energy into electricity to run most of your car's electrical systems. You can tell if there is a problem if your headlights dim when the engine's idling or the temperature rises rapidly both of these could indicate a damaged or broken belt. Even if we don't see these signs the belt is checked anyway, just to be sure.

Fluid levels :  This may sound obvious, but it's essential to keep tabs on your oil levels, radiator fluid levels & your windscreen wash. If any of these are leaking or running low, you could be in serious trouble.

Clutch cables:  Checked for wear, these cables are under constant stress, if they wear out & snap you will lose engine control.

Wheels & Tyres: Checked for the correct pressures any damage to the sidewalls or wheel rims (as this can cause slow leaks) that the tread depth is legal and even across the tyre's width and the spare tyre is in good condition.

Spark Plugs: Are like dirt, soot & gunk magnets - all of which can affect performance but they are easily & inexpensively changed.
Servicing your vehicle is one of the most important things you can do to maintain your cars performance, safety and fuel efficiency - as well as increasing the overall life of your car.

A regular service will pay for itself over the life of the vehicle and will ensure you, your family and other road user's safety.
